Software Developer (Paris, London) PDF Print E-mail

Within one of our development teams (3/4 people), you will participate in the development of our projects for specific customers and our packaged software.

A trained Computer Scientist, you have at least 5 years experience as a developer. Strong expertise in Java, Eclipse, design-patterns, and tools such as SWT and JFace and Eclipse plugs-ins are required for this opening. Knowledge of EMF and software such as SAP, Business Objects, SAS, Oracle or Websphere is an advantage. We have special focus on modeling and data analysis, 2D/3D visualisation and distributed computing. Fluent English is imperative.

In this position a crucial skill is the ability to prototype software (GUI and non-GUI) very quickly and then translate that prototype into maintainable production-quality software.

Finally, the ability to work in a team of scientists, developers, and business analysts is essential.

Senior Scientist (Paris, London) PDF Print E-mail

Reponsibilities: Design of complex agent-based simulations and optimisations; development of such simulations and optimisations in the Java programming language; working with other team members on these activities; using the resulting software to analyse the original business problems and product results, analysis, reports, solutions, etc; testing and debugging the software for delivery to the client.

Requirements: PhD in relevant field of complex systems, computer science, applied mathematics, economics, statistics, ideally with some post doctoral or commercial experience. Must have experience in agent-based modelling and/or optimisation; knowledge of and experience with the Java programming language, and object-oriented programming in general; ideally also experience with UML and standard software engineering design processes.

Location: London or Paris

Salary: £25-35k

We are looking for scientists with relevant PhD’s, excellent programming and software development skills and 2+ years experience in Java. Ideal candidates will be very bright, self-motivated, and have a strong technical background, and will be able to apply state-of-the-art methods to client problems in areas such as dynamic scheduling, agent-based modeling and optimisation. In all positions a crucial skill is the ability to prototype software very quickly and then translate that prototype into production-quality software over a longer period of time. Finally, the ability to work in a team of scientists, developers, and business analysts is essential, as is the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, interesting way, to a mixed audience. Some travel will be required, usually in the UK/Europe, and fluency in other European languages is of benefit, but not essential.

Experience with modern software development practices and tools (UML, XML, Design Patterns, unit testing, etc) is highly desirable.
